Washington [US], September 6 — Oscar-winning Mexican cinematographer Rodrigo Prieto, known for films like ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ and ‘The Irishman’, will be feted with a Distinguished Filmmaker Award at the 26th annual Emerging Cinematographer Awards. The honour was announced recently by The International Cinematographers Guild, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
He is a four-time Academy Award nominee in films like Killers of the Flower Moon, The Irishman, Silence, and Brokeback Mountain, and he knows the reward in most corners of his art. Other films Prieto has contributed to include Barbie, The Wolf of Wall Street, Argo, and 8 Mile.
Besides this, Prieto has also been nominated for the 2024 MTV Video Music Award for the music video Fortnight by Taylor Swift. He is also an enamel in the team that will adapt Juan Rulfo’s novel Pedro Páramo into film.
Also to be feted at this year’s ECA is cinematographer M. David Mullen with the ASC Mentor Award. A perenniel Emmy-winner on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Mullen has picked up a couple of American Cinematographers-the so-called ASC Awards-and three additional Emmys to go along with Spirit Award nominations for Twin Falls Idaho and Northfolk. Steven Poster, ASC, ECA Chair added with equal zeal: “This year’s special career honorees at the ECAs represent the best of the best in cinematography, and we are very excited to be honoring them.”.
Rodrigo Prieto will be honored with the Distinguished Filmmaker Award on September 29.
