Growth of India’s livestock market: Importance of Monsoon Meet

The Monsoon Meet is significant because it acts as a forum for the checking of progress, generation of suggestions from the States and UTs and setting of a mechanism for effective implementation of the programs on the field. This event is meant to encourage intersectoral cooperation and knowledge sharing which will allow central and state leadership to discuss cases, success stories and potential changes that may be required to existing and ongoing schemes and initiatives. The emphasis is laid more on the evaluation of the policies and schemes for reaching out to the targeted populace especially in the rural areas of the country.

The growth of the livestock sector has indeed now become a ‘sunrise’ sector in Indian economy since the livestock has shown a remarkable performance over the last few years; thereby the Monsoon Meet will offer a platform to focus on the future directions for sustaining this high growth.

Tremendous Expansion of Livestock Sector of India

The livestock sector of India has grown between 2014-15 and 2022-23 at a compound annual growth rate to 9 percent. 82%. This constant expansion has led to a increase in share of Gross Value Added (GVA) in agriculture and allied sectors from 24.% 36% to 30. 22%. It has become possible to identify the sector’s total contribution to the national economy; the sector contributes 5% of the total value added gross of mixed income. 5% in 2022-23.

Milk Production: Summing up, it is possible to speak about here as a Major Achievement.

One of the most significant success stories that there has been within the livestock sector has been the increases in milk production volume that India has been able to achieve with impressive averting rate of 57. Twenty-three percent for the auto accident fatality rate and a 62 percent increase during the last nine years. From producing 146. In the financial year 2014-15 capacity utilization of milk production crossed 230 million tonnes from 3 million tonnes of production. In 2022-23, it is expected to produce 60 million metric tonnes, a great achievement in India’s food manufacturing industry.

This 5. An increase of growth rate 9% per annum which is much beyond the global average of 2% makes India as a leader in milk production. In addition, per capita availability of milk also increased in a big way, which was higher 307 grams per reckon swallow in the year 2013-14 and increased to 459 gram per reckon swallow in the year 2022-23. This is far higher than the world average of 325 grams indicating the strong base of animal husbandry and dairy farms prevalent in India that can fulfil the demand for dairy products within the country as well as export markets.

It is pertinent to note here that the Monsoon Meet plays a critical role in dealing with the situations arising in the different sectors.

Indeed the livestock and dairy sectors in particular have registered impressive progress though there are still some factors which hinder sustainable progress in this sectors. The Monsoon Meet will bring together key policymakers, officials, and industry experts to discuss potential solutions to these challenges, focusing on areas such as:The Monsoon Meet will bring together key policymakers, officials, and industry experts to discuss potential solutions to these challenges, focusing on areas such as:

Some key announcements as well as the activities expected to occur during the event are as follows;

It will also be possible for several important announcements to do with the ‘‘100 Days Action Plan’’ as is under the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying. Regarding social issues every state and the union minister I think we should have an interactive session.
A major part of the Monsoon Meet will include a live session with Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh Lallan and Animal Husbandry Ministers from several States and UTs. Such session should be viewed as an effective platform for the discussion, where Ministers will present best practice, problems and solutions what has been applied at the state level.

The interactive session will create a platform where both States and UTs will be able to share best practices and work joint on the projects that can be extended to other regions of the country. Applying this co-operative approach will facilitate the sharing of knowledge and consequently disseminate ideas that have proved most effective to more stakeholders in livestock farming, animal husbandry and dairy production.

Conclusion: The Reasons Why the Monsoon Meet is Relevant for the Further Development of India’s Livestock Industry

The Monsoon Meet for the Animal Husbandry and Dairy Sector in Bhubaneswar is a loom event which will be defining India’s Livestock Industry in the near future. And, as the sector comprises an increasingly significant part of the national economy, it is critical for its members to solve the problems and regulate the processes effectively and harmoniously, as well as discuss the experiences and practices.

Out of the four areas highlighted, only one; infrastructure has not been adequately addressed and this will provide a road-map for sustainable growth, technology adoption to support growth of livestock and dairy productivity that will ensure food security of India as well as support the development of the rural economy.
